Closing Thoughts:
Being a handyman is hard work—but it’s real work, with real results. If you’re hands-on, love solving problems, and don’t mind getting dirty, this might just be the career for you.
Today’s job took me back to the basics—carpentry. And honestly, that’s my favorite kind of day. There’s something about working with wood that just feels right—solid, timeless, and satisfying.
The client wanted custom shelving for their garage. Nothing fancy—just strong, clean, and built to hold real weight. They’d tried using store-bought shelves in the past, but they always sagged or shifted. This time, they wanted something sturdy.
I measured out the wall, double-checked the stud placements, and got to cutting 2x4s and plywood. Every cut had to be just right—level, flush, and strong. Once the frame was up, I braced each section, anchored it deep into the wall studs, and sealed the wood with a light stain.
By the time I finished, the garage looked like a new space. The client was thrilled—they even brought out a cold drink while I packed up.
It’s moments like that—where you leave something behind that’s both useful and built to last—that remind me why I got into this trade in the first place.
